Ad-Aware SE Personal Tutorial

Double click on the Ad-Aware SE Personal icon to start the program.

The screen below should appear. The first thing to do is update the definitions file by clicking “Check for updates now” (Circled in red below) Note: You must be connected to the internet in order to do this.

On the WebUpdate screen that appears, click “Connect”.

If there are updates available, click “Ok” to download and install the updates, and then “Finish” to return to the main program once you have the updates. If there are no updates available, click “Finish” to return to the main program.

At the main screen, click “Start” and then “Next” to begin scanning your computer for spyware.

Once scanning is completed, click “Next” to move to the Scanning Results page. At this screen you will see all of the items on your computer that have been identified as spyware. To remove them, you must place a check in the box next to each item. To do this to all of the items at once, right click on any item, and click “Select All Objects”.

Once you have done this, click “Next” to remove the selected items. Ad-Aware will ask you if you are sure you want to do this; simply click “Ok”.

Ad-Aware will quarantine and then delete all selected items. Once this is done, you may close the program by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
